I love the song. The gunslinging part is my favorite.  

I can't buy the single on Finnish iTunes yet but TOH is already #1 on our iTunes (overall)!! YAY!!  :stir:  :celebrate:

Just says it is the fan edition, whatever that is. :thinks:  I am guessing it will be the deluxe version, what with the prices of the bundles. :Smile:

It will be charting at the official Billboard Charts, the pre-orders will only get "deleted" on iTunes when the album is available.


Adam was probably told what he should be posting so I would trust him.

Thanks, Sabine.  I was under the impression that ITunes pre-orders were not added to the totals for charting.  Whatever...I pre-ordered the CD from Amazon and will also order from AO...and I'll complete my album download on Itunes the day it's released.  That should cover it!

The pre-orders count for Billboard charting.  But people have been saying that iTunes throws out the pre-orders the day the album officially goes on sale so the chart on that day starts with that days sales.  But, sounds like Shoshanna's thinking is like mine -- get it on the charts, get it moving on the charts, let people know he has an album coming out.  

It sure looks good sitting there on the top albums chart -- #11 at the moment!!!!

My feeling though is, buy it where you want, when you want.

Well, I've listened to Ghost Town about twenty times today, and finally managed to buy it from NZ iTunes an hour ago---and I love it!! It's a very, very refreshing song, and utterly addictive.

I've been smiling at all the people on some of the other forums who declared initially that they didn't care for the song, but have since admitted that they can't stop listening to it. Ha!

I think the fact that the song stays fresh no matter how often one plays it bodes very well indeed.    :Smile:

And I see that the single's jumped from #98 to #38 on NZ iTunes in the last couple of hours, while the album is now at #3(!!!), despite it being almost 1am in the country!  :stir:

Adam Lambert’s new single opens with a disarmingly spare, homespun melody strummed on an acoustic guitar, which accompanies Adam’s voice like a trusty mount bearing her master across an arid plain. Adam’s voice is as clean cut and lean as Gary Cooper’s profile, right down to the sheen of grit. Lyrics are sharp and stark as dried up bones. “Died last night in my dreams…” (Am I getting out of hand with my Old Western movie metaphors? )

The verse comes to a halt, and then switches up with “Now I know my heart is a Ghost Town” and segues into a thumping EDM chorus propelled by funky beats underlying that ear wormy whistled melody and finger snapping. This has summer hit stamped all over it. It’s impossible not to dance to it. The very bleakness of the words challenges you to abandon everyday caution and dance.

But what I love best about “Ghost Town” is Adam’s singing. No one could accuse him of over singing here. By holding back on the power, he allows the gorgeous timbre and elegant articulation to cradle your heart.

The eclecticism of this track feels authentic to Adam. You can hear echoes of past songs, covers and vocal flourishes in here. The song’s roots burrow deeply into musical styles that Adam has loved but it doesn’t feel recycled or derivative. His genius as a performing artist has been his uncanny ability to take a classic song, fully inhabit it and make it his own. With “Ghost Town” he shows that he has learned how to apply the same kind of genius to songwriting.

ok...so since Adam's team apparently wants the preorders now, throw out what I previously said re preordering the album on iTunes -- go ahead and do it if you want (or not -- not telling anyone how to spend their money)...I guess that they want the visibility now at the single launch (probably to use it to convince radio to play the single etc).  It will likely hurt the album iTunes chart position release week, but they probably think that they need the visibility now and will have other promo to goose the itunes sales in June (and if the single is a hit that will help -- if its not, the album will have issues anyway -- the single is the most important thing this era).  I'm sure they also know that his fans will only be able to get the single so high release week (eg we can't get it into top 10 ourselves -- I think btikm peaked in the 30s -ish, ncoe a little lower and its been 3 years since them) so that the extra visibility from a good preorder album position will help

Yea that's what I was trying to say when I was confused about the 'don't pre-order' stuff.  I can't imagine how it's a bad thing that people who are on iTunes right now are seeing his album at #1 on the pop chart and #7 on the all music chart.  I know I'm always checking out the charts to see what's new or what's on pre-order.
