but what makes this song "the one" and all the dj's are going bat shit crazy over it, when there were so many great songs on Trespassing.

To be honest, I like the song, bought it (of course), but for me, it's nowhere near Shady or some of the other songs on Trespassing.

Was it his association with Queen....the name of Max Martin in the mix??  What's the "something" that makes this song more?  I don't listen to radio, so I have no idea what's out there, but I'm just wondering.

There were dj's and others who liked those songs you mentioned but the label chose other songs for the singles.   People weren't excited about the singles.  This time the single is making people excited.

And as many have said Ghost Town is unlike anything on radio right now and that's exciting.

I think the 'something' is the hype about Adam that there's been lately, because of Queen and because of the great rollout by his team, and all the DJs etc. get on the same bandwagon. Certainly 'Chokehold', 'Sleepwalker', 'Fever' and others are superior, but it just wasn't Adam's time yet when these came out.
Ghost Town is certainly better than a lot of pop songs put out today by the 'regulars' like Katy and Rhianna; but I'm betting that when the whole album comes out, many peeps will be saying that there are other songs on it that they like better, and why weren't they the first single, etc.

Some radio stations in Germany already played Ghost Town, but it needs time to get under the radar of major stations. Apparently it's pointless to request for it on Dortmund's biggest radio station 91.2 as they ignore requests, so I had to request on other stations that I rarely listen to. The good thing is that many radio stations in Germany still play WWFM.

Personally I struggled to love the new single because of its strange structure and production, but it grew on me as it feels kind of relaxing, it's basically on repeat now. Fingers are crossed that as many people as possible will find out about Adam.

An outstanding song doesn't make it to a hit by default. Hype is the perfect definition to achieve attention. Even if it's just for the sake of reintroducing artists that had big hits in the past. I would see it as overdue when keeping in mind how radio stations treated Adam in the past, no matter how good Ghost Town really is.

Busy at work, so catching up afterwards is a reading challenge.
I don't think Z100 has added any play (other than Ryan's interview today).  Maybe they are waiting for the end of the embargo on Maxwell's interview - could that be for the Saturday Online show?  Next week is the official add target date, if I'm not mistaken.

Personally I don't think any of the Trespassing songs would of been radio hits. GT is the best track Adam has ever done imo and blows all his other material away, but that's just me. Most of the songs on radio are standard pop, but its all about hype and promo I guess. Not neccssarily the quality. But if its got a hook then it well catch on, GT has a hook.

I love all the activity and interviews and excitement surrounding Adam and GT. I am really not able to catch up. :yes:

It seems that many people were just waiting for a great single from him. I remember the excitement for songs like "Cuckoo" and "Shady" from journalists and bloggers and then the disappointment with the safe and - according to many people - boring singles chosen by RCA.

I don't listen to radio either......

I think GT was more than likely written....to fit the current radio formula & sound....

Also....WBR seem to be really backing it...and yes....the Queen & MM connection help somewhat too....

I really love this new sound of GT........and love that Adam's vocals are front & center....

I do agree with you tho......many songs on TP are really more Adam....and I love their sound as well...

Really loving the catchy sound of GT  .....hoping that it is....the hit....for our boy Adam
