Adam Lambert loves kissing on stage
ADAM Lambert wants to take his rock brothers on.
The American pop star whose post-Idol success has confirmed his talent, says his Glam Nation tour won't be competing with the big budget pop extravaganzas but rely on his theatre background to bring the wow factor.
"I don't have Pink's budget, not yet," Lambert said.
"It's a lot more stripped back with some great costume and choreography. It still feels like a rock show. I want it to feel legit."
The flamboyant performer, who has held sway in the Australian charts since his scene-stealing Mardi Gras performance in March, is now best known for The Kiss.
Since Lambert puckered up to his male bass player at the American Music Awards last year, he has bowed to audience demand to include it in his show. Consider yourself warned.
"I love kisses, yes, I do. It's fun, it's harmless. You guys call it pashing, right?" Lambert said laughing.
Lambert is one of the more engaged artists in the social networking realm, using Twitter and Facebook to answer critics, dispel rumours and tout songs and videos he loves.
The 28-year-old recently announced via the usual peer-to-peer means that he would skip the kiss at his Malaysian concert to respect cultural guidelines.
"It's great to have fans able to connect with each other, women who have become friends via what I'm doing. It creates a community and a social scene for people," Lambert says. "And Twitter, I am thankful for because it allows me to stop rumours and clarify things. And it's allowed me to start my own rumours."
Lambert was bitten by the Sydney welcome wagon which also greeted George Michael with a big hug earlier this year.
"I did make some friends and had some dinners while I was down there last time which wasn't long enough," he said.
And no doubt many of those old friends will be at the sold-out Enmore Theatre show on Wednesday.
