Got around to watching the entire show today and I'm happy Adam was a part of what turned out to be a really nice evening of honoring some artists who are the best at what they do.
The tribute to Kenny Rogers was a great reminder to me of why I fell in love with country music. He was one of the reasons I initially became a huge fan of country music. Hearing and seeing those early songs/performances almost made me cry. He looks great (as Dolly said recently, he grew into his facelift
). And I loved what he said to the artists about remembering there's always a kid in the audience who decided because of them they want to be a singer.
And Chris Stapleton - he may singlehandly turn country music back around to the real, authentic stuff. And that's a real good thing!!
I so love that Adam sang that particular song. Although I think some people are underestimating or possibly stereotyping the country music audience. The audience has become much younger, much more open, much more accepting. And the industry itself is changing.
I was listening to the song off and on all day -- just kept being drawn back to it. Thinking of my niece's reaction to the performance ''We could have done without Leona". As much as I enjoyed the 'duet', I would love to hear Adam sing the entire song. Then again, I want to hear Adam sing every song.
